Tiki features a Wiki, Image galleries, File galleries, Forums, Polls, Chat, RSS feeds, Articles, Submissions, Weblogs, Webmail, Surveys, Trackers, Newsletters and more.
Themes can be created using CSS. Everything is customizable, Tiki uses Smarty for templates, PEAR to access the database, and renders valid XHTML. Multiple languages are supported. A permission system can be used over all the features.

Tiki in PHP :: Wikis

OK, I admit it, I am a newbie. But nevertheless my girlfriend and I wanted a webpage to tell the world about our lives. Now we stumbled across tikiwiki and it suits our needs (featurewise) in every little detail - and goes beyond that.
My only problem is customizing it now. This Smarty thing may be powerful and all, but I am the kind of guy who only knows how to code HTML, maybe some CSS. That leaves me somewhat high and dry, but I'll read my way into it. Afterall, my webhost pumped the php.ini up to 16 M since with the standard of 8 M tiki wouldn't even care to run in the first place. So I guess this is a pretty decent package, but major downsites are the meory usage for php and the - at least for newbies - pretty demanding customization needs..

IMHO, Tiki is the best PHP open source CMS available now.
Currently #2 on the Sourceforge most active list. Tiki has pretty much all the modules you could wish for: Wiki pages, Image galleries, File galleries, Forums, Polls, Chat, RSS feeds, Articles, Submissions, FAQ, Spellchecking, Touchgraph browser, Weblogs, Webmail, Surveys, Quizzes, Shoutbox, Trackers, Newsletters, HTML pages and dynamic HTML pages, Editable drawings and figures (Jhotdraw), Comments, Trackers and more...
Work is underway on version 1.6 which will bring Directories (Dmoz like), a calendar and plenty of other features & improvements.

I like the software but it does not install easily and seems to be geared to users who own their own boxes. Installation on a hosting provider that uses some secure php settings is a nightmare and a process I am still in the process of tweaking. The features are there but getting all to work can be headache.

This script eats all your server memory, Dec 4, 2004

I tested this website, it's really very powerfull but I has a REAL PROBLEM.
The script eats from 8Mb to 12Mb and maybe more of Memory. The first page eats 8.12Mb for me, and when you want to edit it, it's something like 9.15Mb.
I've got a 1.7Ghz / 256Mb server and a 800Mhz / 512Mb server, on the first one, it made the server slowing down (and maybe crashing but I have a protection), on the second one it was very slow. Each page has an execution time of 0.5s to 6s on the first one and on the second one, it was around 1s to 2s.
This script is only for people who have great computer and prefer to use a ready-to-use script to build a community or something like that.
If your php.ini has it's "memory_limit" set to 8MB don't even think about using it I will give you an error just after the installation step.
Look a the websites wich use tikiwiki, their are all very slowy...
