I can't say enough about this script...
Not only was the installer top notch, but it does everything I was looking for and more!
The fact that it's integrated with Paypal and provides and easy subscription and renewal process is invaluable.
I started searching for something that might be close to what I needed, but instead I found the perfect match.
Great job!!

Hi, I think the phpmembership script is brilliant and easy to install. It detects problems and tells you how to fix it. the installer is great and easy to use and it took less than 10 minutes ot have it up and running. The only shortfall at this stage is the fact that it only supports PAYPAL and not other pay engines such as STORMPAY or even CLICKBANK. In SOuth Africa we do not have access to PAYPAL for some strange reason, but we can use STORMPAY. The product would be greatly improved by providing a Stormpay script, or allowing the user to change the script to include Stormpay. Otherwise I think there is great potential for this product and hope to see it in the update.

Features I liked:
Easy installation - I had a site up and a running and needed a members only area. I downloaded the application, installed it and had it up and running in under an hour.
Integrated with PayPal - this is a huge feature. 99% of sites out there take credit cards and if you don't have a brick and mortar store PayPal is a great way to accept credit car payments. With this feature I didn't have to figure out how to integrate PayPal into my own PHP code.
Admin Area - With the admin area you can do all of your member editing, get the emails of all members for newsletter emailing. Everything you need in an easy to use interface at your fingertips.
I looked into designing my own members area with php and it would have taken me many many long hours of coding and bug fixing to get it to work. I found this program and it makes it simple. Thanks to Dave Walker for designing this great program. It the best I have found. Two Thumbs up from me.

This script was the easiest script I have ever installed. It worked on the first attempt to install. From the time I uploaded it to the server, it took minutes to have functioning security system in place.
More importantly, it met all of the issues my clients had raised. They wanted security, low cost, installed quickly, ability to manually approve all registrations and more.
I could have written a script to do what this program does, but why reinvent the world?
I was trained in web security by Uncle Sam. I am not easily impressed, but I am impressed!

The software was way too easy to install. At first it took me a few minutes to figure out because I am not used to stuff being this easy. It has a program that you launch on your desktop that edits the files then uploads everything to your host. Took me less than 1 min to install. 2-3 min to configure the paypal settings, then a couple more min to upload my members area and I was in Biz. Wish more software could be like this.

I am a total novice at PHP and I tried several other programs before I came across this one. Nothing could have been easier to install and begin using immediately. This is an absolutely excellent offering and deserves my full, unreserved recommendation.

If you have little or no expericence with installing scripts of much experience, the absolute ease and quick installation process make this one of the best user management scripts available. The wizard guides you through the process step by step and automatically contacts your server for installation of all files. It took 5 minutes to install literally!
I also was thrilled with the quick, and easy process of skinning the pages to incorporate into my existing website. You definitely do not want to pass this one up. One suggestion: It needs to have a Date of Birth entry added.

This is an excellent script... and it's free too!... The only thing I can see that I would change is the ability for users to change their own passwords. At present, users get a randomly generated password, but there is no way they can change it to something more memorable.
Also, I would like an option to add users manually and to opt certain users out of having to pay... however this is all easily worked round at present. You can't complain 'cos it's free!

I knew nothing about creating databases, configuring these types of settings for this program to work and within 4 hours I've gone from Newbie to "I can do it and I'm not blonde". Knowing nothing about php, I am learning fast. Having a protected area where the students of my dance academy can access their dance and music files without me having to worry about 'file thieves' stealing them.......To the creator I say "Thank you and kiss kiss!" I'm not so newbie NOW :-) With thanks. Tracy

This is a cracking piece of software. This has allowed us to take payments easily for our members area and once we set up the software we leave it to itself to run. This has given us the edge over our less technical competitors....you should seriously consider adding this to you site...it is great.

This piece of freeware is great. From the time I downloaded it to everything set up was a matter of minutes. It gives administrators a lot of options to play around with and the forums provide alot of help for anyone with problems. I would recogmend this to anyone wanting to set up a members area on their website.

This product is easy to install, has great functionality, easy to customise, has a very helpful forum and the author/developer of the script/s is very pro-active in supporting the users. Considering this solution is FREE, it's bloody fantastic. Better than most of the apps/scripts you have to pay for. LONG LIVE OPEN SOURCE!!!! Definaately worth a healthy donation! GREAT work David. 5 Star delivery. [PS > I would have happily paid for a subscription to the forum but my credit card is MAXED :(

Well here we go, what can I say but D Walker has done me proud in creating this little piece of work.
After scouring the net for a basic, get me up and running, members log in script, I was at my tethers end until I found this one.
Main factors in favour of the script:
1. Ease of installation, especially if you use the installer program.
2. Comprehensive set of instructions, something which most of the others I tried, just did not provide.
3. Easy set up and a piece of cake to use.

setting up a comprehensive member registration/managment script is a real chore. I looked for two years for one I could do and they all required knowlegeable tweaking that was always a bit beyond me. I just tried David Walkers free "phpAutoMemberArea" and have installed three instances of it in under an hour.
Incredible! Comes with a sweet self-installer, it's free.
I now have member's registration and managment, private content areas, a bulletin board and more.
HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!

This script is great! First, it's free! Second, it's great for any kind of internet site that requires a paid membership. It's nicely integrated with Paypal, and the security is really nice as it can stop people from accessing the site if they haven't paid. One downside is that if you want any kind of support, you'll need to register your website first. If you don't register, you'll get a small ad that can sometimes get in the way. Still, it's a nice script.

I am very impressed with this tool.
So easy to install and setup. Easy to use.
This is how a good Programm, Software, Tool should be.
Wonderfull. And also the flexability to customized it to your needs is realy a bid advantage.
(No not sure anymore hope the 5 is the top rating and not the 1....)

I am looking for a script just like yours but need to know about the paypal credit card acceptance and if and how that works with your script. Since I cannot email you directly or even post to your group without paying I am asking or hoping that someone soon reads this so we can move forward and I can buy this.

This is a great product. It only took a few minutes to set-it up and I was on my way. It is even easy to integrate into your site so you will have seamless integration. It is a very powerful tool that allows me to comtrol members, member pages and payments all in one. The only negative I would like to see is a better design for the admin area. Other than that I recommend this program to anyone who need something powerful yet easy to install and manage.

What a pain in the ass to customize due to the application needing to contact the authors servers for Ad serving EACH time the LOGIN page is accessed. I made a mistake with this one and while I can edit my review I am typing (original review was praise until I discovered all of the mousetraps). Many code strings are encoded BASE64 so it makes custimization impossible. No SSL support.
