Link Management Assistant in PHP :: Link Indexing

Link Management Assistant (LMA) is an extremely useful and easy to use tool that greatly helps you build a linking system for your web site. It is a PHP based app with a MySQL backend.
The application comes with some very comprehensive and easy to use documentation along with a user support forum.
LMA also has an innovative feature that allows you to import specific categories from DMOZ. This feature allows you create searchable databases of complimentary web sites that fall within your web sites niche, thereby adding to the value your site can provide to its' visitors.
Recommended.

Duncan Carver's Link Management Assistant is just what you need if you are interested in building a link management system. It is packed with lots of features and I found it superior to all others I considered. He gives plenty of support through his forum.

This is without doubt the most sophisticated, feature-rich and easily integrated link management tool I've come across.
With a price tag that meets everyone's budget (it's free!), an import tool that enables you to build niche websites with thousands of pages in a matter of minutes, plus an (optional) feature you can use to generate an unlimited number of backlinks with just a few clicks, I'd consider this to be one of the hottest webmaster tools that's available on HotScripts.

I've scoured the Net for link scripts and reciprocal link scripts and tested about a dozen and NONE come close to LMA. Great script. Very easy to install. Very easy to customize and integrate into your existing site. And the inclusion of the option to import DMOZ listings is fabulous. I took a point away from my rating only because the confusion with how the script generates the file directory structure. It creates the directory page URLs virtually, something I've never experienced, which made it confusing to complete one of the settings. But, in LMAs defense, the Forum answered my question and I was able to get it going correctly within a very short period of time. Very good forum support. I highly recommend this script.

Well. So I tested this script during the last few days, and took a look at the source. There are segments of commented-out code in there, and the overall not-too-coherent data structure (flat files, SQL-database, hardcoded in the script) makes adaptions a bit of a challenge. I18n is especially troublesome, as some things are configurable, some are hardcoded in the script, some are hidden in flatfiles/templates, and some are in the database.
Generally, the code quality is of the "rapid prototype" variety -- which in itself, and certainly at this price, is not necessarily a bad thing. Combined with what I'd like to term an "almost fascist licence", however (Basically: "No modifications to the code whatsoever, $ 100.000 for infringments") it quickly becomes a problem, especially when there are a few quirks that could easily be sorted out (Full XHTML 1.0 compliance, eg.)
Plus, I am a little disturbed by the fact that the script "phones home" every week to put new (randomly selected) sponsored links in my database (they are displayed at the foot of each page) and tries to hide this by obfuscating the URI it's calling. There's no mention of this in the documentation, either.
To sum up: Rather easy to set up and maintain, and easy to work with (although the user interface could use some improvements). English only, and nothing you are allowed to do about it. This is clealy a marketing tool (and labeled as such, I might add): Experienced users, especially those seeking more general link management solutions, may have to look into other solutions. I sure will.

Awesome script and a HUGE time saver.
It's easy to install and instantly gives you the ability to have a professional web directory on your site. Feature rich ... you can even import the entire DMOZ directory, or just portions of it to create a "niche" webdirectory that is relevant to the content of your site .... helping to raise your PR in the search engines.
And aside from the features ... the support forum is large, responsive and the creator himself is very friendly and available to all users.
Best of all ... it's FREE!

recently found your LMA script through hotscripts.com and loaded it this past weekend. A little tricky since I'm not that familiar with MySQL. But, the installation went well with a great deal of patience. What a software program. Absolutely brilliant and the ease of use is unmatched. Thank you so much for letting the Internet community share your Masterpiece.

The idea of the program is wonderful; the execution and support leave a bit to be desired.
Installation was a long series of errors received and non-working segments all through the program. Several complete re-installs did not remedy the problem.
Too many unanswered user questions on their "support forum" to be of any help to either newbies or experienced users.
If they clean everything up, I'd be willing to try again - but as it is, no.
