We wanted a chat program that fufills the following needs: Easy to use, similar to other popular IM chat on the market in term of cosmetic look, does not demand much on server resource, and supports unicode.
We evaluated 4 different chat programs and 1 stand alone. PHP121 chat stands out. There's one small glitch: It does support unicode but it does not come with the language we need. We ended up doing the translation ourself and donated our work to PHP121.
Over all, PHP121 IS GREAT!

PHP121 is an excellent PHP script for at least three main reasons: (1)it took me 5 minutes to install it in my website, (2) it took 5 other minutes to understand it and test it (3) it took me other 5 minutes to adapt the translation into Portuguese of the script... It is simply a must! Congratulations to the PHP121 team. To see it running go to the following URL:

I used the free v3.0 on my phpbb site, and loved the functionality, but realized that I wasn't going to be able to style it to fit seamlessly with my very custom look without going through almost every one of php121's 70 odd php files, which had loads of style info hardcoded into them. I specifically asked about this before I donated, and was led to believe that styling was centralized in a handful of theme css files in the new version. The style info is still scattered everywhere in v3.1!!!
