This is an excellent book if you want to lean how to program in php. I don't know if my small experience in perl helped me. But this book has made me greatly understand php much better. If you are starting out in php, or want to learn. I recomend this book for sure.

There aren't that many good books for PHP but this one was the best I found. It actually has some pretty good examples and teaches you great techniques. Not only does it helps beginning programmers but it also helps people with experience by teaching them new tricks in the later sections of the book. Before I read this book my experience and skill were not that good and I was confused but after I read it I started writing all sorts of scripts even public GPL ones. I recommend this book to all people interested in PHP.

If you're a PHP newbie, this book is not the one that's going to teach you how to use PHP.. it's more a reference for looking up functions that you dont know the name of but you know what you need it to do. It's an excellent reference and it's what helped me gain knowledge on PHP
