A fair attempt but still missing a lot of things!, Apr 20, 2001 Reviewed By: Simos
Review Of: Web Shop Manager in PHP :: E-Commerce :: Shopping Carts
It's a good try! It is not using mysql at all, but uses .txt files! That might not be the perfect idea, but it sure does the job, especially for newbies! But you cannot use it for profesional use! Some major disadvantage is that it makes the web page listing very big if there are more than 10 items. Overall, I found it very useful, although missing some great things (like secure https connection when giving card details ). I believe with some additions and fixes it'll be a very good solution!

Review Of: Web Shop Manager in PHP :: E-Commerce :: Shopping Carts
This is by far the easiest to install shopping cart. Believe me, I have seen a few. Installation takes a few minutes, even if you're not an experienced programmer. The script is very easy to customize with header and footer includes. However, unfortunately it lacks a few features. There is the possibility to charge tax or not; there is no possibility to charge tax for people from certain countries or states (as it should be). When an order is placed, an email is sent to the store owner but no confirmation to the client. Moreover, the email to the store owner doesn't have enough information (just username, no real name, address, etc.). There is an option to select a payment type but no integration of any payment processors such as PayPal or anything.
