HISTORY Originally I was looking for a simple SOCKS5 Server (with user/pass auth) that would run as a non-root user on FreeBSD. I checked the FreeBSD ports for various SOCKS5 solutions and tried them all, only to discover that each one had a reason why it would not work, or why I could not use it. I figured this could be done in perl, but found that there was no well maintained perl based solutions. I hacked together this solution (with help from public domain scripts) and cleaned it up, ready for release. Its simple, a feature I intend to maintain, however there is scope for much more potential, especially with user feedback. WHOIS is a fully-functional domain whois script that looks up .COM, .NET, .ORG, and .EDU domains and retrieves information regarding the specified domain. It can be used by all users if you wish or can be kept to yourself.

SimpleShell allows you to execute your own command. This pretty package removes the handicap of not having telnet. Even if you do have telnet access this script can save you time and takes less effort!

This script as its name implies, is a system monitor program that runs on a unix server. It checks every 5 minutes to see that your servers main functions are operating within normal parameters and emails you immediately if they are not. Below is a list of what this script checks for. Per-Process Memory Usage Global Memory Usage Swap Memory Usage CPU Usage by limits Disk Space Usage Load Average SMTP Service POP3 Service TELNET Service FTP Service All the above are monitored by preset limits which you set. All are 100% configurable by you to make managing your server a LOT easier. The email feature can easily page you also by using an existing email to page gateway. Currently this script is only designed for linux systems. If you run other variants of Unix you will need to configure some parts of the program to use it properly. If you run NT, forget it.
