What is your opinion of the new Windows 7 Operating System?

What is your opinion of the new Windows 7 Operating System? Is it really as good as people say it is or does it need more work? Let us know by voting above.

Personally, although I beta tested Windows 7, I have not yet had a chance to try the finished product, so I am curious to hear what other people think of it.

Thanks,
Pete

I'm in the same boat... I'm about a month off (or so) from buying a license for Win. 7. I beta tested and tried the release candidate. I must say it's much better than Vista and I'm impressed with it overall.

However, I'm procrastinating making the switch to Windows 7. Not because it's a bad O.S., but because I've had the past 10 years to master XP, and as a result I've become extremely efficient on XP with ZERO unexplainable quirks.

Kinda like building an car engine... you know the thing inside and out... but if you buy a new car... you might ask "What's that noise.... is that supposed to sound like that?" You can figure it out, but it takes some investigation.

I don't have any experience with it directly, but the reviews I've seen have been mixed. I'll probably run XP until I can no longer get drivers for it, and by then (I hope) I'll be able to run it in a VM under Linux.

I think when my PC dies, I'll use CentOS.

I just don't do that much Windows/Windows Office type work anymore. I'll rely on employers to provide machines (for remote desktop/in office work) specific to their environs, if necessary.

Couldnt have said it better. Ill run XP untill I have no choice (likely because of lack of drivers) to switch.

I'm digging the look of CentOS. Thanks for the reference wirehopper. Looks like the distro comes preloaded with everything you need (for a web developer like me)

I've always liked Ubuntu, but CentOS looks definitely worthy of a try.

I, for one, love Windows 7. I've been using it since the first betas (now running the final), and it's just great. No major complaints so far. Except maybe better native support for dual screens.

Haha, yeah. I'm really getting into Mac OS X too now. Perhaps I'll abandon Windows completely one day. ;p

It's so much better than Vista--all the good stuff from Vista, and they got rid of all of stupid annoyances. One gripe is that my machine seems to lock up frequently with 7...don't know if it's OS-related or not.
