Smile REQUEST: Tutorial or prmg on mysql/php/related tables

Hello,
I get the idea of tables, getting the database with php, updateing, etc. That is pretty cut and dry. What I do not get is relating those tables to avoid repetition. I understand having key and sharing that key in other tables to pull up the data, etc, but the way they explain it makes it sound like you can only use that key to automatically update.

Sigh. I guess what I'm asking for is a tutorial built for dummies that explains the relational database tables, how to create an interface with php that populates, pulls, updates, and deletes from these tables. I have several tables to use, books, authors, staff, and reviews. I'd like to tie them in with an id from each table where necessary, but it's so confusing!

Oh, I'd also like to tie it into postnuke if possible.

I don't have a lot of money (yet) so I can't really ask someone to program it for me. Here's my request:

1. Is there a postnuke module that creates relational databases that is real basic that I can build from without having to rip it apart?

or

2. Is there a postnuke module that does what I want already?

or

3. Is there a tutorial that is real easy to use that I can go over and learn from for myself?

or

4. Is there someone who would like to slap together something really simple with the 3 tables and php. It doesn't need to be postnuke compatible unless you want. I eventually want to give permissions and grant different views per "staff" member, but that will come later. I'm seriously broke so that is a warning. LOL. I would have no idea what this would cost either.

I know enough to be very dangerous.

Thank you so much for answering!
