LightningSpeeK

After using gettext for a while, I was hooked. It was so powerful and fast, who could not love it? But a great many hosts do not have the extension enabled, so then what do you do? Use a native PHP implementation. The only good one is php-gettext, which has nearly all the functionality; however, it is pretty slow compared to the real thing. Enter LightningSpeeK, an alternative to gettext. It is not only faster than php-gettext, but often faster than the gettext extension! (At least on my server, nothing is guaranteed on yours) It has support for everything gettext supports, except it doesn’t have a visual editor like poEdit. It has multi-language support (duh) and full plural support. Plus, it uses straight PHP code, so it doesn’t require any extensions.
