If you're looking for an ecommerce solution these days, chances are that you are inundated with choices. A number of great companies are writing software to improve this competitive space, but just surviving in such a crowd is not easy, let alone standing out and excelling. Suffice it to say, in my brief use of IzzoNet, I was both surprised and delighted at how the product distinguishes itself from its competitors, providing a feature set that should keep the great majority of users satisfied.
Like many others, IzzoNet brands itself as an all-in-one ecommerce solution, not an easy term to live up to, given the varied needs of the ecommerce space. However, in my history of reviewing products, I don’t believe I have ever come across another as feature-packed as IzzoNet.
Obviously, there's no way to talk about everything in this review, and to be honest, a regular user will not use every aspect of the software. However, if you need it, a feature is likely to be there, providing peace of mind over the long term. As such, I would say that IzzoNet is what it claims to be — an all-in-one solution for your ecommerce needs.
For this review, I decided to look at the following four aspects — getting set up, product and content management, pricing, and support. However, I will mention some other prominent features I think customers will find useful.
IzzoNet works well at getting customers set up quickly with an online store, fulfilling the first goal of ecommerce software. Immediately after logging in, you are brought to a control panel that guides you through the steps needed to put your store online.
The first step is choosing a theme for your store. I was impressed with the quality of most of the designs afforded by the more than 90 themes offered. These aren't simply five themes with different color permutations — I'm talking about 90 completely different themes! From angry birds to sports apparel to fashion and jewelry, there's a theme here for you. Once you choose it, you're free to customize it to your needs, either through code or simply with a drag-and-drop interface. From there, you can add content to your website (such as About Us pages), optimize for search engines, and more. Hit “save” and your website is up and ready to start serving customers.
Next, let's talk about the most important part of any ecommerce solution — the management of products, content, and orders. The IzzoNet control panel is divided into specific categories to make it easy for users to manage their online store. Want to work with your products? Everything you need is in the "Products" sub-navigation.
Speaking of which, adding products is a breeze, with more than 50 fields available for customization of factors such as shipping, Facebook and eBay integration, promotions, and categories. If you are migrating from another software package, you can import all your products in via CSV. New users will appreciate the presence of demo products, which make it much easier to understand how things should be laid out.
Larger stores may need functionality beyond simply configuring products. For this, IzzoNet provides management for drop-shipping, general shipping, customers, and campaigns. It's a very robust system that has all the features you will probably need, but it's well-hidden if you don't want to use them. I find the ability to manage drop-shippers a very helpful feature. Theoretically, you could become a drop-shipper for other stores, and manage it all from a single control panel.
As your store grows, you may face some marketing challenges that IzzoNet has some useful and fun tools to help you out with. For example, I had fun playing around with the Campaign Creator. Simply choose an item in your store, or type in a few keywords, and IzzoNet provides some handy slogans to use in your next marketing campaign. If you'd rather market through Facebook, eBay, or Amazon, the service provides integration for selling your IzzoNet products directly in those locations. Tons of other marketing-related features exist — generating newsletters, sending out text messages, comparison shopping, analytics, and more. I was really impressed by how much marketing help IzzoNet provides.
In addition to an extensive feature set, sometimes it's the small things that really make a difference. A few hours after signing up with IzzoNet, I received an email from Oliver, who asked if I needed help setting my business up. Keep in mind that I was just on a free trial of IzzoNet, and I was also undercover so they wouldn’t know that I was reviewing them.
Another example of IzzoNet’s attention to detail — if you have questions while browsing the site, you can open up a chat panel at the bottom right to directly communicate with the support staff. It's simple and fast. However, you probably won't need to use this since the pages are generally well-organized and all have a "what can I do here" link explaining the objective of the page in a sentence or two. There are also toll-free numbers to call for assistance. Simply put, support is superb.
Finally, let's talk about pricing — sometime a contentious issue for customers. Available plans start at $20/month and go up to $300/month. You can sign up for a free trial for 15 days without entering any credit card information, a step I highly recommend if you think you might be interested in the service. The $20/month plan does not offer the extensive analytics and marketing support, and you don't receive eBay and Facebook integration unless you are willing to pay more than $70/month.
As mentioned above, what IzzoNet costs really depends on the features you need. Give the free trial a go, and you'll get a better sense of what plan would be right for you. One of the things I do like is that even on the lowest price plan, you're free to sell as many products as you want. Some companies place limits on the number of products that you can sell, but that's not the case here.
Overall, IzzoNet is one of the better ecommerce products out there. They have been well-received in various blogs, and for good reason. Hey, even I may open up an online store now that I know it's so easy with IzzoNet!
