Newsletter - February 2009

Greetings, %Member:CustomField3%!

After months of development, the public beta of the new and improved Hot Scripts has been launched - the best just got better! We are still in the throes of some additional tweaking, so please bear with us.

This is an exciting time for Hot Scripts! We have listened carefully to you, our visitors and members, to produce a directory you can enjoy using and feel a part of. The new Hot Scripts has been completely rewritten from the ground up. Beyond the obvious cosmetic makeover, we have preserved, streamlined or enhanced most of the traditional features you have come to rely on. In the near future, we will be introducing a number of new services, features and advertising opportunities that leverages our new and sophisticated database platform. Be ready to take your Hot Scripts experience to a whole new level!

Throughout 2009, new features, services and modules will be rolled out. Our foremost priority will be to expand our current content inventory and include sections like APIs, widgets, Mashups and add-ons. This year is going to be an exciting year for Hot Scripts! Don't miss it!!!

UserVoice - Customer feedback made easy!

Today's market is governed by customers' feedback. By participating in those discussions, you will not only build a better relationship with the public, but will also harness their feedback to enhance existing products and develop new features. The concept of UserVoice is simple, and I would term it as being a combination of Digg and Twitter for users' feedback. People are able to either submit a new feedback or vote for existing feedback. Both the users and the owner can discuss proposed bugs and feature requests. Finally each week, your users will receive an update email with updates on the items they submitted or voted for.

One of the notable features of UserVoice is the way it can be easily integrated in your existing Web site. You can skin it using CSS to match your site's look and feel or point your sub-domain using CNAME to your branded page on UserVoice. But other than being a feature-rich application, UserVoice is in itself an extremely well done Web 2.0 application in terms of usability.

Lovely Charts - Web based diagram creation tool

Lovely Charts is a free Web based application that allows you to create nice looking diagrams - flow charts, wireframes, site maps and other visualizations with an easy to use drag-and-drop interface. It is far better than other online diagramming application I have reviewed. Once you are done designing your chart, you can save it and export it as PNG files. Some of the planned features include real-time collaboration and user-generated content whereby you can create and share your custom libraries to others.

This web application is built using Adobe Flex and PHP. If you want to learn more about its underlying technology, I recommend reading RJ Owen's interview with Lovely Charts creator.
