I wold like to know how to count a certain row (i think its called row )

Orr, maybe it's called records?

Well, let's say I have a field called number, in that number is 7997 records. I would like to know how to count up them records.

Is this possible? :S

mysql_num_rows is how you would do this.
ex.

This SQL line works too when counting up rows in the table:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM sometable;

So if one would like to count up rows where the field named 'number' contains the exact value of 7997, she would do:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM sometable WHERE number=7997;

I recently bought a template site written in PHP and MYSQL. I am pretty familiar with HTML and Flash, but am just learning some PHP and MYSQL now, and I had a question. I have an admin area that I would like to create a fuction to count the rows in a table by the current days date. Any Suggestions?

This is the code I am starting with, but do not know how to get it to count just the current days total for the rows.

This should work IF the appdate column is a type DATE column.
