GG-Tracker tracks your mobile using GSM Cell-location in combination with GPS. It uses both GPS and GSM networks to get a position. If only GSM is available it relies on location previously stored using a GPS receiver. The position is displayed on the internet using a Google Maps integration. The operation is very simular to how Google Maps 'My location' works, only this time you are in control. If a GPS receiver is connected it does two things, it stores the current position and the GSM cell the phone is connected to. If the GPS is not connected anymore it checks the database for previously known coordinates of the GSM cells. When it was connected to GPS the program stored the GSM cells, so all it does, is look back and see if there is a proper fit. If it finds a fit, it reports that as a position, meaning that GPS is not necessary anymore for positioning.... (show more)

Smarty is wonderful. Smarty is powerful. Smarty is REALLY REALLY slow. So slow, in fact, that I was looking around for a different template system that not only does everything Smarty does, but runs really fast as well. But there were none to be found. So I thought, �why not write my own?� I did, and came up with a very bare-bones template system. I tested it against about 10 others, and it was one of the fastest � the only ones that were faster had almost no functionality! It is this fast because it has almost no overhead � it only parses the file once (like Smarty), and doesn�t even have a class � just one function call for the entire template! The search for a name was a no-brainer � seeing this script work reminded me of the speed of lightning, so it is now called LightningRoD.... (show more)

After using gettext for a while, I was hooked. It was so powerful and fast, who could not love it? But a great many hosts do not have the extension enabled, so then what do you do? Use a native PHP implementation. The only good one is php-gettext, which has nearly all the functionality; however, it is pretty slow compared to the real thing. Enter LightningSpeeK, an alternative to gettext. It is not only faster than php-gettext, but often faster than the gettext extension! (At least on my server, nothing is guaranteed on yours) It has support for everything gettext supports, except it doesn�t have a visual editor like poEdit.
