Only works in IE

This script only works in Internet Explorer, thus confusing those with Firefox or Safari. In Firefox it works if you enter a term and then hit the 'Enter' key, but it doesn't work if you click the 'Find in Page' button with the mouse. In Safari, you just get the error message regardless of the method used. I need a script that will work across IE, Firefox, and Safari browsers.

I use this script to search a family tree. It is exactly what I wanted. I am very satisfied and so are the people who visit my web site. Thanks.
