VM Category Filter is a tool for easy navigation and search of products through the categories of a VirtueMart (e-Shop). The user selects one of the main categories and the filter returns the corresponding subcategories. By choosing one of the subcategories, the system re-filters and returns the subcategories of the user’s new selection. This can be continued to any depth the system administrator has chosen. These user’s selections combined with the optional product type selection, function as search criteria in a VirtueMart e-shop. VM Category Filter consists of two parts. The component “com_vmcategoryfilter” which elaborates the user’s selections and the module “mod_vmcategoryfilter” which presents the results to the front end user. The search depth of category levels and the option to show or not the product type are defined by the system’s administrator.
