  • I imported a 600MB SQL to a extern database. Everything worked fine. I had to add the port to mysqli() function

  • Got glued to it because it just works.

  • I needed to import an 80MB file into a database. I had issues with the import. I emailed Alexey with several questions. He answered all my questions, and included a guarantee that if the file could be uploaded, it could be done using his script. I proceeded to use his script only to be stopped by a max_questions error. I emailed him about it, and he said there no way around it. Then he said I could change a couple of lines of code, and it would take 16 hours to import. I tried the changes, but it didn't work. Finally, I got hold of my hosting company, and lo and behold, they were able to upload it no problem! I let Alexey know, but he insisted that I did something wrong and refused to refund my money. Do NOT use this script unless you are SURE that it will work. Alexey will find a way to avoid refunding your money if it doesn't.

  • Awesome Script for Importing. Before this I used to use the Sql Splitter windows software to split the sql into small bits and then open each one and add disable foreign key check disable statement and then zip all and import one by one. This script solved all the problem. Never expected it to have the pre run sql queries before every session that too with foreign check disable commented out if you need to use it. Wow. Awesome. I could not have asked for anything better that too for free. Thanks for the programmers for making our life simpler.

  • The script worked flawlessly, and actually better than I had expected.

  • this is most appropriate script for importing large scale mysql dump files and its very easy to use.

  • An extraordinary piece of soft that does the job pronto! A .sql file that meets the import limit size through phpMyAdmin interface was loaded in less than one minute by BigDump. Thanks to the developers

  • Great script to upload big sql file (dumped db ) to database.

  • Great job! Totally time saver. On the other hand this script URL should *NOT* be revealed to public or you will have to delete it right away after you finished restoring your database as it does not have any form of authentication. Unfortunately there are some reviews that says this is a great script, but only rate it as 1 star :(

  • It's a very usefull script if you have a MySQL server in a multihomed server with poor resources and a big database. Thanks Alexey !!

  • I have no idea of apache, php, mysql - had only some advices to import a dump; database was to bis, searched on web, found your tool; in the beginning did not know what do change in bigdump-file; try and error - and it works - heureka!

  • One of the best scripts for developers. But the database credentials should be collected on the go instead of hard-coding within the script file. It slows down the pace a little bit.

  • The script works perfectly, with that I managed to upload my huge MySQL backups.

  • This script enabled the restoration of a huge db seamlessly and first time and got me out of serious trouble! Thanks heaps

  • easy to work easy to use simple straightforward

  • Good exception handle able to import 1.3GB database, with a few twist. I just need to increase the $linespersession and $max_query_lines, and when export from old database from tools phpmyadmin, you can select combine multiple rows in one query, but just change the max length of a single query, to around 1,0000. so that it won't hit the 300 lines limit.

  • I have wordpress sites with more then 5K posts and 5 lacks tags. So the size of my sql goes to 3Gbs. And A normal server cannot dump (import) such large sql. • I've used this script to upload a 1.6GB sql script into my database. It was super fast and did exactly what it needed to do. The default settings are secure but i needed to adjust some to allow for my file to import.

  • Used it to import phpBB backup prior to rebuilding the board. Don't know much about sql but that wasn't a problem. Takes a while, and kept getting errors with special characters even though I used utf8, so had to restart from part way many times. An option to check for errors first would be good.

  • A Very good tool for anyone who have to upload a large sql file to a new database.

  • It was getting very hard to import very big dumps. Navicat Premium was also not able to complete it but BigDump did it very well.

  • phpmyadmin failed after claiming that it had loaded 500 million lines, despite there only being 2 million. This script just chucked through it and imported correctly

  • I couldn't get phpmyadmin to install on my vps. Realised that I didn't need it as I just need to restore wordpress databases. Hit lots of problems but BigDump told me what the problem was very clearly so now I can do this quickly.

  • I think that it is very usefull and good tool. I think that a better graphical interface is needed and then it will be just perfect

  • I run automated backups of my database every night, and I was looking for an easy way to restore it, just in case everything goes belly up! I came across this, and with only a bit of tweaking, I was able to add user verification to it, so that it is safe to leave on the server. One of the most useful things about this is that you can see it's progress and can therefore estimate the time remaining, so you can tell your users how long the disruption is going to last

  • Thank you for this great script It saved me a lot of confusion and problems.

  • 100% simple and functional, can't get better than this!

I did find that when I created the dump from phpMyAdmin with 300 set for the "Maximal length of created query" instead of the default 50000 it took under 10 minutes to import. With the default 50000 it erred to whitescreen.

  • This little gem dumped a 384MB SQL file in less than 10 minutes without a problem. I could hardly believe it went so well and just had to tell someone. Great idea and some very nice code. Thanks!

  • Simple and neat! I scratched for past few days trying to upload database through expensive useless mySQl workbench or similar GUI apps because i dont have direct access through phpmyadmin.

  • Had problems with importing a large database at new ISP. Using BigDump I got rid of my headaches. This script did the job and did it really fast. Great work!

  • I reviewed and tested it, and honestly it was amazing, about three million records within few minutes! Good work, and thanks man!

  • Worked perfectly for me. Succeeded in uploading a 600MB database dump to my remote MySql server. Great!

  • This is surely a masterpiece. This script has surely solved my problems and hopefully it will do so in future also. Importing a heavy database takes the breadth out of MySql, but this script makes it a piece of cake. Once again, thanks a lot guys for the brilliant work.

  • Ran into a problem with timeout in PHPMyAdmin. Followed the instructions. Ten seconds later, my 9 MB SQL statement was processed flawlessly. Warning: Watch out for "extended inserts" when exporting your SQL.

  • I tried for hours to import a large file. I stumbled upon BigDump and was done in a few minutes (including the time to read up on how to use it and add the db info) Great Script!

  • This script saves tons of time - I had a 25 meg sql import which phpMyAdmin flat refused to import. With BigDump, I just set the database access settings, pointed BigDump at my import file, and set it loose. Voila! My import is complete, and I didn't have to spend hours parsing the file myself in order to import it.

  • Just imported 80 mb mysql dump w/o any problems. Thank you for this great tool!

  • I was having no end of trouble restoring my localhost test database. PhpMyAdmin just kept timing out. I was manually editing huge SQL files which as you know is a pain in the arse. Then I found BigDump. Downloaded, changed a few values in the configuration and ran it. Success 1st time! This script does exactly what it says. Great work. Thanks a lot.

  • Works flawlessly imports my 13 meg DB in under a minute, where as trying via phpMyAdmin times out constantly.

  • Specially registered for this one. BigDump is not only a life-saver, person in question is even a nice guy and responds to an E-Mail. This script is 10/5. Thank you very much. - Igor

  • This was a lifesaver for me. I had to load up a largish database, one gzipped sql dump for each table, on a serevr where PhpMyadmin simply timed out for the larger files. No way to load anything. Then I found BigDump and it was WOW! I found a wee bug: the final record count that was reported is off by 2, but the actual table has the correct number of records. Caution: if you use mod_rewrite, upload an .htaccess file with "Rewritengine off" to the Bigdump folder.

  • this script is great and does what its meant to do, it has just helped me out on my new site without no errors at all so if trying to do a big sql dump into your dataase without this i just cant see it happening, highly rated by my self Albert F A Matthews

  • This script just does what it is created for. Instead of the sick uploading the dumps via phpMyAdmin or cPanel which will not work in most cases, the best method is to put the dump file by FTP, then just configure this script modifying few values and run it. No more waiting, stresses or unexpected errors, the job is completed very fast. It seems the best software on this planet is really written by russian programmers!

  • This tool does exactly what you need it to do. The easiest way is just upload the .sql file to the web tree some where then start the process. I uploaded a 36M .sql file and it worked it no problem. EXCELLENT program and EXCELLENT use of Ajax to show you the progress!

  • No Frills, does just what is needed. Moving a big MySQL database that phpMyAdmin chokes on? Bigdump does the job! Ted Schober

  • It took our 2+gig sql file from our search engine that took us 2 days to upload to the server, and this little script within minutes fully executed the sql query successfully with no errors. Compared to all the nightmares we had trying to run it with PHPMyAdmin, this took is worth a million bucks. Great little product.

  • I've been struggling with a large database 64mb, and getting it imported to a new server. I've tried every method and it always failed. I tried different programs such as Navicat, phpmyadmin, from the sever itself, but always failed. This is a life saver, and well done!!

  • I registered just to say how awesome this script is. A database that took me over 4hrs to install manualy has taken me only a few mins with this script. Weldone to the person who made this script. Thanks M

  • I use big dump every day to upload in my local computer the daily download of my production database. Bigdump is the best application I have ever used for such daily chores. A very intelligent tool that should be included in MySQL releases with PHPMyAdmin.

  • BigDump got me out of a bind when I was faced with moving a large PHP-Nuke / phpBB site to another host -- and phpMyAdmin wouldn't let me upload my large database (even after I tried splitting things up into many smaller import files). BigDump is just one php file with only 5 or so lines to edit; simply upload that to the same folder as your database, click, and watch it fly. Thanks, Alexey!

  • Bigdump has helped me so much, I could never have gotten along without it.

  • This is the first time ever I've reviewed a script. Very simple to use. Solved my big concern how to restore the huge backup of my site in the case of a server crash. Now I know my back ups CAN be restored even on a fairly restricted virtual server in safe mode.

  • I too am one of those people who NEVER review or rate anything. But I've got to hand it to Alexey - this script has saved my bacon on so many occasions. It shouldn't be free I reckon - I would happily pay for a script like this. Hat's off to you fella - well done on such a great script.

  • This script has helped me solve 3 problems so far that would've taken alot of time had I not used it. Just like the reviewer above, this is the first time I've reviewed a script I've used. It's extrememly helpful, quick and easy to use.

  • Superb script, have just used it to load a 48mb SQL dump back into a database, worked seamlesly, Does exactly what it says on a tin, this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to rate and review a script. Well done mate !!!

  • This program proved to be a lifesaver for our website, we had a huge sql dump file to import and after multiple tries and time outs, I tried this and it worked!

  • As everybody, I've met problems with uploading/ restoring huge mysql dumps. "BigDump" is just THE tool I needed and that solved my problems. I could NOT make some of its "smart" features work, and just used the "basic" scheme. Not a bad thing anyway, since this is not an everyday problem. The configuration I finally used: - no GZ - BEWARE, when it says "no extended insert", that's real. Alternatively, you can get your dump with extended insert AND THEN put some <<; INSERT INTO...>> at strategic places. But why would you bother? (except if file sizes create problems) - DO convert yourself the ".sql" files to Unix, do not rely on bigdump to do it: I had to do it. Might be related to the fact that my data are UTF8, which might at times confuses PHP.

  • I myself found myself executing chunks of mysql dump queries in phpmyadmin for the big forum backups I had until I found this script. Now I just run this awesome free script and my forum db is restored within 5 seconds or less!

  • This tool has become one of my favorites, I use it very often. Thank you!

  • For some time I have been attempting to find a way to dump a 5mb sql file (the entire bible) into a mysql database, without having to do it section by section. I had begun to give up and started to dump it in sections, which is tedious when you are having to dump over 30,000 sql queries to one database! Then by accident I came across this script, and it solved my problem! It's so ingenious, yet simple. It automatically takes the sql file, then dumps chunks of it, then refreshes itself and dumps the next chunk. What a useful tool! Thank you!
