SquirrelMail is a standards-based webmail package written in PHP4. It includes built-in pure PHP support for the IMAP and SMTP protocols, and all pages render in pure HTML 4.0 (with no Javascript) for maximum compatibility across browsers. It has very few requirements and is very easy to configure and install. SquirrelMail has a all the functionality you would want from an email client, including strong MIME support, address books, and folder manipulation.

Squirrel mail is excellent

This program is excellent as is, and with a little knowledge of php, it is VERY customizeable. check out a working example of a customized version of squirrel mail, (Changed to MunkeyMail) at www.redmunkey.com/munkeymail I love this program.

With SquirrelMail we could almost forget that we have regular Email-Applications at home. SquirrelMail supports the major IMAP-Platforms and they don't even have to be on the same machine as the WebMail system. This is the perfect application for WebMail, way better than the various freemailers out there!
