Oceanographic Data and Weather Conditions
Real-time feeds are read in and parsed from the NDBC, a part of the NWS. NDBC designs, develops, operates, and maintains a network of data collecting buoys and coastal stations. Buoy locations are defined in custom flat files containing station data including longitude and latitude. The user selects a location, a map is then displayed of that area, with each buoy marked on the map with a station code. Current weather and atmospheric conditions will be listed for each buoy on the map as well as in a table below. The map will dynamically run through these data values and display them on the map in a loop. If more detail information is wanted on that specific buoy, the user can click that buoy. Data displayed in table and map: * Station ID * Location * Time Readings Taken * Air Temperature * Water Temperature * Wind Speed * Wind Direction * Wind Gust * Barometer * Barometer Trend * Wave Height * Wave Period
