It can open an uploaded file image in either JPEG, PNG or GIF format and resize it to given width and height. Either the width and height can be set to auto, so it gets adjusted to keep the original image proportion based on the value set to the other dimension value. Amit Banerjee created a full script which, loaded on a server server running PHP 5.2+, allowed users to upload files to a Dropbox folder via a simple browser based uploader. I soon came up with a demo app that uses the HTML5 file API and Jake Jancar's Dropbox Upload class to implement a version that allows multiple file uploads using jQuery's Ajax. The filetype and maximum size of the file is adjustable. This is the simplest and fastest way to serve images. The application simply creates the thumbnail at the first call and serves the thumbnails statically at the later calls. This improves your server performance as it does not need PHP executions and image processing at the later calls. Fast Thumbnail Server uses 404 error handling directive of the web-servers to manage the thumbnail creation of the images. When a browser first request an thumbnail, as it does not exists in the system, the web server redirects the request to 404 page (e404.php should be configured as 404 page). 404 page creates the thumbnail and saves the thumbnail to directory specified in the URL of the request. At later requests of the thumbnail, the thumbnail is served statically from the directory. The later calls does not cause PHP executions.

This ensures faster and easier server migration and saves you precious time, as you avoid the most common step of first transfering the content from your old server to your personal computer and then transfering it from your personal computer to your new server.
